Hm. Episode 10 is lending further proof to my theory that Mikumo is an 'artificial person'.

I was actually thinking Mikumo was one of the last "Bird People" and a direct descendant of Protoculture after finally watching Episode 10 myself.

Perhaps. That would replace Mao as the last of the Bird People after her transfusion from the EVIL-Series Zentraedi from M-Zero.

Personally, I think that Mikumo is an android, like the one from Macross 29. Her Official Bio Stats are all 'Unknown'. Her eyes occasionally glow. She apparently does not breathe, if that underwater scene is in any indication. She doesn't need the jump boosters to make some of the leaps that Freyja does (and her people have much higher physical capabilities than humans). And Mikumo has that semi-sociopath personality that Sharon Apple had.

In the M-Plus film, Myung salvaged Sharon's chip before her 'body' was destroyed. If she were to have rebuilt her as Sharon 3.0, well that tells us who Lady M is, doesn't it? That's probably not the case, but it's a fun theory just the same.

But if she's a android, she wouldn't cause fold reactions. If she's artificial, its more likely she's some kind of bio-engineered being (maybe an amalgamation of all the know protocultures).

The ships are artificial and have a fold reaction every time they jump. ;)

Yes, but a fold reaction is like an explosion. Mostly brute force, some control(like a shaped charge). Controlling people through fold receptors is probably a much more delicate affair. If machines could do it, then why have the ruins to amplify it? For that matter, you could just make it into a gun. Macross 7 would have been much different series of they could do that.

I am with the theory of Mikuno being one of the Bird People/Protoculture being :)

*gasp* Traitor!

Or you would be had you sided with me first. Buuuut you can side with me now and still be a traitor. Huh? Huuuuuh?

They did make it in to a gun in M7. It lasted for, like, three shots and then exploded, leaving Battle 7 without a main cannon for the last episode.

See if Lady M turned out to be a new Sharon, I might very likely lose it. That would be amazing.

All we need now is the replacement pilot to be of the 'Dyson' lineage and this will be officially the second best Macross ever.

Nothing will ever top M7. ;)

They need to stop with these filler episodes and do something already.

You know: mecha porn. Its why we watch that show. Perhaps not so literally, though.

A new video game is coming out by Artdink, who did the Macross (Ace/Ultimate/Triangle) Frontier set and Macross 30. This one is 'Macross Delta Scramble'. It looks really nice (it's on the Vita) buuuut it only covers Delta through Episode 13. It has a couple of Extra Missions from DYRL and Frontier. No Zero, Plus, nor M7 though. Also, unless you get the Limited Edition, you only 2/5ths of the music in-game. At a price of $84 USD for the regular version, I think that I shall pass on it.

EDIT: They have since announced that there will be an Extra Mission from each anime and M30 which will unlock the Main Singer, Main Hero, and the Main Hero's Valkyrie. There is no mention of M3 nor VF-X 1 or 2. For M7, Mylene counts as the Main Singer.

On a game-related note, "Super Robot Wars V" is being released in English. It is still an import (region-free) purchase. Great way to get by those pesky licensing rights, though.

Something kind of new from Episode 18, Mukuno saying "rudanjal rom mayan". After having a vision of herself waking up with no less then 5 doctors looking at her...

Its also the same thing our new king of the windamerians says is part of his name.

So interesting things happening...

Perhaps the Mayans were the last of the Protoculture and the word refers to that race.

Maybe Mikumo was whatever was dug up from that NUNS site that was DME-ed. A previous Windsinger maybe, but that would not explain her other weird abilities. Maybe an Infiltrator-type Protodeviln like Sivil, but she does not appear to be that powerful. Sara and Shin's kid? Someone pulled through time by Yurva Arga, or an Anima Spiritia that had locked in a stasis pod like Mina was? Just a regular person made to look extra cool to make the audience talk about her?

Her Daddies. I wonder how many Mikumos (Mikumoes, Mikumi?) there are now that she had been confirmed as artificial. There were certainly a lot of tubes in that room onboard the science/medical ship.

More importantly than that: we finally got to see Protoculture.

And finally confirmation in Episode 21, Mikumo is officially a clone! And only 3 years old. Genetically enhanced with fold receptors... Makes me start wondering if the Macross Galaxies fleet had something to do with Lady M...

I think you do have a point on Sara and Shin though, so its kind of a race to see what comes up first: Lady M's real identity, Epslons Foundation's real identity as the big baddie, or this bit about the Star Singer at the end of the episode where yet another person says "rudanjal rom mayan".

Mikumo looks like a purple-haired version of the Protoculture singers shown in the recap episode. She may have been cloned from the remains of one them. Possibly from the same group that had been left on Windermere with the Sigurd Valens. If the NUNS base was researching a way to weaponize them, that could explain the reason why it had the dimension eater dropped on it.

Wouldn't it be nice if they never tell you who Lady M is? They'll make you wait for the movie edition to find out. And not the first film either.

You're definition of nice is interesting :)

That said, I think they decided to wrap up everything they could in Episode 25 today. They not only filled in the back story of Major Wright Immalmann and the plot that he tried to foil, they also tied in the Vajra War, and the holy of all holy's: The 1st Long Distance Colonization Fleet - Megaroad-01...

And then made the very interesting note that "Lady M" made her debut around the same time...

Let the speculation begin!

My definition of nice is the long-game. It is banking on the franchise's future, which is a lot of faith given how dull this entry has been.

Lady M could be Miku Ichijyo. Minmei is too much of a bimbo to have mastered so many of the requisite advanced sciences.

Well, there you go. They never confirmed who Lady M is.

Also, unless I am mistaken, Roid's (and originally the Protoculture's) master plan was the same as the villain's from Final Fantasy 8.

At least we got to see a pair of VF-9 Cutlasses -- in M3 paint jobs, no less. Apparently, Max and Milia retired from the military a decade or so after M7 and went in to the civilian flight school business.
