Greetings everyone,

As of Friday the 27th of June, the following new joining policy is in effect in order to improve Roleplaying, and reduce GM strain on the MRC:

3. To better serve the members of the MRC, there will be a waiting period of three months between the creation of new characters. {EB: 6-2003}

You can view this, and the slowly growing master list of Beliefs, Policies, and Rules rules of the MRC here: http://boards.macrossrpg.com/viewtopic. ... &forum=4&0

Question: is this a retroactive ruling on all the characters being currently created on the JB? Or will it only be applied to characters being initiated after 2003.06.27?

Any characters initiated after this date, must wait until 3 months from the date of approval of their previous character. For example, if I had a character approved a week ago, I will be waiting twelve more weeks before I can start another.

So are characters created as a result of death exempt from this?

Correct. As the complete set given by the link reads, when a character dies, you are free to make another replacement character.

What about characters already destined for a game but not yet approved? Phelan will be joining the DBES game I'm running but it has been less than 3 months since he made a character. I'd like clarification on this.

I'd imagine statement of intent with acceptance by both parties prior to the implementation the policy would be exempt. ...but I'm not authority on this...

If I knew, I would have made my city15 character awhile ago instead of letting it rattle around my head for the past few months.

Just think, its gives you a ton of time to work out wrinkles and spell check the little details in all that backgrounds material.

I have a question of my own, I have a semi-retired character i`m hoping to bring back into the game, does this type of `character` introduction exempt (Im assuming it is)

Also, what about character takeovers? This was discussed on the stats board a while ago. A player leaves, and a character gets abandoned, would the player taking over that character be exempt from that rule? (Again i`m assuming exemption )

While not every situation has been covered yet, keep in mind the purpose of this new policy. First, new players are all fired up to make lots of characters that they find they can't handle. This causes each game they are involved in to suffer and usually ends with the player getting burnt out and dropping out. Second, the MRC is growing rapidly. In fact, the membership is increasing much faster than the staff. Eventualy, there will not be any openings for new players if we do not make an effort to reduce the amount of characters being created because players are bored.

I would say that if you are planning to make a new character for an alliance game or adopt a character, you have to ask the following questions. How many characters do I have? am I actually making detailed posts on time for all my characters? Can I handle adding another character? Are there enough opening for everyone who wants to play? Does someone else deserve this position more?
