The Unicorns are mistakenly rerouted into combat at the protoculture ruins during the Second Battle of Teradai IV. They faced overwhelming odd with no support. Seventy-five percent of the squadron was shot down during the battle. After the battle, half the squad is declared unfit for battle.

A press conference was set up introducing the Unicorns as the newest defenders of the City-15. Someone leaked details about the battle, and the press conference became another disaster.

After a failed simulation where 3 Unicorns crash into a canyon wall, Major Horn realizes that the Unicorns need stronger leadership. Horn approaches General Hastings for help. Feeling that the Unicorns have already established a bad reputation in the M-15 fleet, he decides to assign them to a special diplomatic mission on the anti-UN world of New Caladonia.

Falcon Sound Force : Sound and human creativity contains a power that has yet to be fully harnessed. Based on the Macross 7's succesful Sound Force and Jamming Birds Units, the Macross 15 Fleet has elected to create the Falcon Sound Force.
