Raven Corperation - Black Wing Developement

PROJECT SP5233A

A joint operation aboard the Einstein 15 between Raven Corperation and Blitzkreig - Trident Armarments

Budget

The Enstien 15 resources group has assigned funds of 2 million creds to be made available to the design teams. This outrageous amount of funds is unheard of for any project, much less one with out an intial design to show. It is apparent that the powers that be have an interest in the project and that all parties have their attention.

Official Statement from Robert Masterson

Official Request for Proposal Rules and Guidelines:
  1. Any combination of Corporation or Design Teams is allowed, with the concent of participating Teams.
  2. Specifications must be approved, and may be edited as needed by:

    b. Macross 15 Colonization Fleet Commanding Officer (Jester)
    c. Requesting Officer (Sabre)
  3. A strict timeframe exists. No more then one month (REAL TIME) may be used for initial design. Testing may exced this timeframe. Changes in this timeframe may take place!
  4. Funding:
    a. Participating Design Teams will share any profits in equal distributions, regardless of individual contribution. Profits may be used on other projects once this project is completed.
    b. Costs will come directly from project funds, and will be shared by all participating Design Teams.
    c. The Project Code for this is: SP5233A.
    d. Initial Funding for this project is 500,000 credits. Additional funding will be allowed as needed.
    This project is a go!

The Following Statement was made by Robert Masterson at the Closing of the Introductory Design Session

"Well it looks to me like everyone has a feel for this project at this point, so lets conclude this meeting at this point. We'll meet again in a week to discuss your projects designs, and techincial specifications at this time."

"I suggest that both teams continue daily meetings at this time to iron out any problems, in order to have the design specifications ready in time. Also, the Lt. must be involved in all steps."

"On that note, I am going to be requesting that a Bridge Officer, with expertese in miniture C3 Systems will also be attending additional meetings with both teams as well, even though she might not be here until late next week."

Pausing, Robert looks around the room and says, "Thank you for taking part in this process. Additional funding will be approved as needed, but the minimum requirements of a BDC/BDI with C3 functionallity must be meet. At this point an additional 1.5 million credits are available for your project. That's all."

Project Pilot Profile

Character Name: Lahkbir Darshan Noonian Singh
    Nickname: Lucky
    Callsign: Wizard
    Character Age: 32
    Gender: Male
Birthplace: Amritsar - Punjab Province, India
    Religion: Sikh
    Hair Color: Black
    Eye Color: Brown
    Height: 6E
    Weight: 205
    Handedness: Right

    Affiliation; UN Spacy

Distinguishing Features: Lahkbir is a Sikh. As a pilot and a member of the UN Military, he has had to make a few concessions, finding the balance between religion, tradition and practicality.

Family: Lahkbir is the eldest of five children. His father, also bearing the name Darshan a professional Engineer and his mother Indira physician and a resident professor at the University of Amritsar both still residing in the Punjab province. The faith of Sikhism has brought many blessings on Lahkbirs family.

Character Interests: Astronomy, electronics, reading, prayer

    Character Background:

That is to say, the Punjabi community Enot necessarily India as a whole. While the rule of the new unity government has eventually brought peace and prosperity to war-ravaged earth, many elements of separatist movements and religious radicals still exist and so it is with Lahkbirs father Darshan who is heavily, heavily involved in the continuing lobby for the Punjab province to succeed from Greater India.

Still, Darshans father is approaching sixty years of age and is a far cry from the fiery political radical of his youth. A family man enjoying the comforts of prosperity, the blessings of Sikhism and a loving family are the real focus. This didnt soften his bitter disappointment that his eldest son Lahkbir embraced a secular life, away from Amritsar. Now Lahkbir has always been a devout Sikh but his dropping out of university and joining the Punjab Provincial Police Force was truly enraging and marked the souring of what is still a bitter relationship between the aging and bitter father, and Lakhbir the wandering son.

Police work was thought to be beneath him though Lahkbir loved to travel over various parts of India and the Indian sub-continent, patrolling vast areas with a UN Hovercraft. This he did until he was 25 years of age before quitting the force and joining the UN military, training as an air traffic controller and working for a number of years for the Sub-continents orbital launch facility. It was there that the devout Sikh discovered his talent for mathematics. His ability to juggle complex three-dimensional calculations and physics made air-traffic control a snap. Too easy. It was then that Lahkbir accepted an offer to return to University to complete his degree, this time the UN Academy, followed by addiontal training from the UN Naval Intelligene and Electronic Warfare division. Lahkbir excelled at each and every facet of reconnaissance, sensor control and electronic warfare. His entrance into the UN Spacy Academy for pilot training was eagerly sponsored.

Project Details

The following is a presentation made by the Lieutenant at the Introductory design session:

Taking a tiny remote control from his tunic pocket, the young Sikh pilot dims the lights and simultaneously being the digital presentation. The room central holographic tank lights up with an animated 3-D image, starting with a rotating craft. Thru this Lahkbirs speaks steadily and slowly, describing each section in detail and outlining a mulit-role support craft, a stealthed eint-fighter that would be have vastly improved sensor capacity, but with a miniturized radome, one that could function as a command and control craft working with the colonization of ships or combat fleets adding enormous range unto a fleets communications and sensor capacity by acting a moble bridge"

    Lahkbir continues to speak elegantly.

.in previous versions, the enormous radome made any kind of reduced radar cross-section a myth. Using radomes with the VF-17 requires the radome to be ejected before the full cycle of modular transformations could be comepleted. In addition, when used in the variant role, of electronic warfare and electronic interdiction, the slung jamming pods and heavy communication and sensor pods produced stresses on the airframe. A VF was no longer trans atmospheric due to all of the support systems slung on the fuselage.

Can an external radome or sensor pods be done away with? Fully integrated and internalized?

Within the tank the image continues to rotate and shift, different elements being high-lighted or enchanced. Including catchy and colourful looking radar/sensorEwaves radiation to and from the craft. (Lahkbir and a colleague worked for months to perfect the final touches for a eye-catching yet informative infomercial. He has also rehearsed his presentation countless number of times to get his tone perfect, his accent virtually gone).

Ehe challenge remains to produce a craft that is stealthy, swapping out weapons systems to minimal for self-defense of wild-weasel missiles like the shrike V to target enemy sensors. A fighter that is still a fighter, low RCS or stealth and the elimination or reduction of external pods which would allow it to deploy from any capacity from fleet support to a rapid reaction force.

More images, this time showing fleet support. Asteroid and detailed sensor mapping. The eyes and ears of a fleet, vastly improved.

.A disciplined operator, if the BDI/BDCS were integrated, a would be able to plot a and circumnavigate or traversse either a minefield or an fast moving asterioid field. Detailed mapping would give our fighters and definite edge, increasing our manoeuvring speed within such fields.

Lahkbir continues to address a number of other factors. Presenting a *wish list* of sorts. Almost all of the technology that will be used already exists. Some will need to be improved but the chief challenge is if such a integration of systems can take place. And if these two teams of Engineers and administrators can do thatE.and if they will want him to be any part of it. No doubt, each team already had their own test pilots.

It becomes gradually apparent why, if such a craft were possible, why UN Spacy and the Colonization project would be interested in such a craft.
