Cobalt and I saw it in the theatre when it first opened and it TOTALLY ROCKED!

We tried very hard to see it on an IMAX screen (70x70). But all of the IMAX theatres where it was playing just stayed sold out. We couldn't get tickets. :(

But, all that IMAX stuff aside...

You're gonna love it! In fact, I dare ya to say you don't. :)

Ok, I finished the movie last night and two things I have to say.

The firs thing is that this movie goes on my 'must purchase' list. Like I said earlier, this movie is 'Art', I truly enjoyed the way the turned a graphic novel into a movie and still gave it a graphic novel feel. Mind you I was a bit disturbed by the horribly racist overtones in the movie but I quickly got over it due to the bloodshed and violence.

The second thing is...I need to do more sit-ups.

I'm serious. I thought I had a fairly decent looking set of abs (6 pack) until I saw that movie. I cried. I was like....sh...t. Let me take my tubby pot belly back to the gym. :cry:

We all do Nic, we all do. ^__^;;

That's why I got the two disc special edition. It's supposed to have featurettes about how the actors got in shape for the role.

I rented it and liked it. My (100% Greek) mother, on the other hand, kept going on and on and on (etc. etc) about the historical inaccuracies.

Oh yeah, I didn't bother mentioning the historical inaccuracies which were too numerous to mention but other than that it was a cool flick.

Well then I suppose it is a good thing it's an action movie and not a documentary.

Plus it was based on a comic book. It was written for the audience's pleasure, not accuracy.

I have made my peace with it; I've decided that "300" would have been perfectly acceptable to the ancient Greeks. Lest I get argument about accuracy - I'm not referring to it as history, but rather a larger-than-life retelling of events based on history, much as "The Alamo" was to... well, the Alamo. Chances of an accurate retelling of any of these stories are slim to none, because the number of survivors (especially of a battle that occurred in the fourth century BC) is something very close to zero, or a multiple thereof.

I liked it!

I ran out and nabbed it since I didn't get to see it in the theaters. Nergasims everywhere! :D
